100 Level 102 - Chapter 2
Avoid Restrictive Plumbing
Manufacturers usually rate their pumps at the maximum GPH possible at a given head using the largest diameter plumbing feasible for the testing, usually 2 sizes larger than the pump outlet. Consider doing the same. Upsizing 1-2 pipe sizes larger than the pump outlet will give you all the flow you are paying for. Restrictive plumbing costs flow, and that costs you money. Restrictive plumbing also kills pumps. Following the Recommended Tubing Size Chart will maximize efficiency, flow and pump life and minimize electrical consumption and pump noise.
