Ponds 103 Chapter 6
Installing Equipment
If you’ve already set the biological filter and attached the hose, now all you have to do is attach it and the skimmer to the liner as the pond fills, following the manufacturer’s recommended procedure. In order to ensure that the weight of the water doesn’t pull the liner off the equipment, make sure to leave a fold of extra liner below the attachment area of both filter and skimmer. The fold will also provide slack so future settling of soil or rocks won’t pull on the liner and cause a leak. Go ahead and use silicone as recommended, but consider only filling to just below the bottom of the skimmer opening, then turning the water off and letting the silicone completely air-cure overnight. You can continue to set your rocks and stone as the silicone cures. As an example of exactly how to attach the equipment, you may want to visit AtlanticWaterGardens.com/tools.html to see videos and fully illustrated instructions of Biological FilterFalls Installation and Skimmer Installation.
